Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday. A lot of people would hear that and say "oh, that's the Sunday before Easter". But it's so so much more then that!! The triumphant entry, the Passover, Jesus before Pilate. This is what comes to my mind as I think of Palm Sunday, but it's still so much more then  that! Palm Sunday is when Jesus chose to take the road he knew would lead to his death. He chose it for me. Even as he told his disciples to untie the colt, even as the people were cheering, even as he seemed "accepted", Jesus wept. He wept over Jerusalem who had rejected their Messiah, who had been given the most indescribable gift, yet turned it down because he  wasn't what they wanted. He wept over his people, his chosen people who were to busy with themselves and their lives to make time for him.  Sure, if they could benefit from him, from his miracles, they were all for it.But when it came to eternal things, they simply turned away. I know that can be something I struggle with as well. It's so easy to pray when we want something or someone is in trouble, but how much do we spend time with Jesus in our day to day lives?  His people rejected him, still, he was willing to die for them. He was willing to die for me! Because of his love for us, he was willing to bear the penalty of our sin. He chose the road to the cross that day when he entered Jerusalem. And that is what Palm Sunday is about! Jesus chose the road he knew would lead to his capture and death so that we could be free from the bondage of sin!
Romans 5:6-8  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  2. Thanks for the post! Yes, it says that he "set his face like flint" toward Jerusalem. No turning back. It was God's call on His life, why he was here—to fulfill the plan of God's from the beginning of time. To save us. Thanks Jesus for all you endured for us!
