Thanksgiving!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
I certainly did! This year, a family from our church invited us over to their house. We didn't know them very well, so we weren't sure how it would go. . . but we had a WONDERFUL time!!!
Their kids were older(the youngest was 19) but we had a fun time regardless! We spent about 3 1/2 hours playing games. We played Uno, Spoons, and golf. We got there at 1:00pm and were planning to stay until around 3:30pm. . . but we ended up staying until 7:30! After we left their house, we went by our grandparents house to see how they were doing. They haven't been feeling well and we were going to drop off some of the leftovers for them. When we got there, we had another surprise! Some very dear friends who we haven't seen in a couple months were there!! So we stayed there and talked for another 2--2 1/2 hours and then we went home. This was defiantly one of the very best Thanksgivings ever!!
What did y'all do for Thanksgiving?
A vegetable tray "turkey" that my sister made. Unfortunately, it turned out a bit blurry.
Game time.
More games!
Playing "spoons"!!
If you have ever played "spoons", you know that  in the middle of the table there is one less spoon then there are players. We had 5 players, so 4 spoons. We connected all 4 of them, which made the game a lot more fun, because when one person would grab for a spoon, they would get all 4. . . which resulted in everyone grabbing at that players hand trying to get one.  It made the game a lot more fun, and also more competitive!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I came across this song and it's quickly become one of my favorites! It sums up everything we have to be thankful for so well.

Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Book review for the week---The Graham Quartet and the Mysterious strangers.

Genre: Mystery

Age range: 6th grade + (But older siblings will enjoy it immensely!)

Author: Rebekah Morris

Description: In the midst of the cold, snowy woods, the Graham Quartet stumble across a mystery. It could mean danger, but that doesn't stop Elsa, Matt, Tim and Selena as they try their best to help a stranger who needs them. But what do Siam, Hong Kong and Vanderbilt have to do with the local furniture factory? And why are so many strangers suddenly appearing and then disappearing in town? With the arrival of an elusive figure, things start moving, while a simple delivery trip may bring more than the Quartet bargained for. Will the four siblings be able to help their friend and their country?

Personal review :)
I LOVE this book!! I originally read it on the Authors blog, and I was thrilled to learn it has come out as a book. . .and what gets better then a family mystery???
It is a book which strongly upholds christian values. I really appreciated that, while it is four siblings solving the mystery, their parents are involved in ever aspect of it. Also, while there are down-to-earth situations, the kids are always reflecting godly character. They go to their parents for advice and are constantly praying that God would help them as the go about solving the mystery.
Okay, so I think you get my point---I can't say enough good things about it!!! :)
I know you'll really enjoy it! Have any of you read it?

Veterans day

I have Grandpa that served in the Vietnam war, a great Grandpa that served in World War two, a Uncle who is in active duty, and a great Uncle who is in active duty. I pray the we may never forget the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made for us. To everyone who has served in our Militarily and to everyone who is currently serving in our Military, THANK YOU!!

Romans 13: 7  Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due. .  . honour to whom honour.

A song and verse for the weekend--I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go

Matthew 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Book Review for the week---Roses for Mama

Author: Janette Oke

Description:
She's cared for her siblings as best she could . . . but is it enough?  Instead of the new life she and her family expected to forge out west, seventeen-year-old Angela is thrust into the role of caring for her three younger siblings after the death of their parents. With the help of her older brother, and trust in God, Angela is determined to raise the children as her mother would have wanted. As the youngsters grow, the questions and challenges intensify. Angela feels trapped and overwhelmed. Surely no man will ever want a woman who comes with three children in tow. Is this the plan God has for her life? Will she ever find a way to balance her own dreams with the promises she made to her mama?

I really enjoyed reading this book!  It isn't a "romance" novel in the way Janette Oke's books usually are.
What romance was in it was very light and coming-of-age. It was an excellent book and a really sweet story :)
I would highly recommend it!
