I visited the 1800's...

Here are some pictures of the Old West museum we went to yesterday. Once we got there I felt almost as though I had stepped into the Andi/Goldtown days. Look at the pics and you'll see why!
Those of you who read the Circle C Adventures books will understand the captions under the pictures...hopefully!
The school yard.

Me, My brother's, Caleb, and Jesse, My sisters, Sarah and Kezzy and my cousin, Josiah

A dressmakers shop. I wonder what it would have been like to order a dress.......

My siblings, Caleb and Kezzy Walking up the ladder to a loft in an 1800's trappers cabin.

My sister, Faith looking at the deer antlers and animal pelts in the trappers cabin.

A wagon. Seems impossible to believe that the Ingalls traveled through 3+ state's in something like this!

1800's Church

Tea anyone? A table in a parlor set for tea.

Class (My siblings, cousin and I) at an 1800's school complete with McGuffy readers and a slate.

This classroom reminds me of Andi's schoolroom. Now we just need all the characters from the book!

The bank with two empty teller stations. Hmmm.... Peter Wilson must not be in :)

Hello, May I help you?

Main Street.

Where's Cory?

A mercantile.  Reminded me of Goodwin's Mercantile in the Andi books. Perhaps Jack is around back.

My siblings(Faith, Sarah, Benjamin, Caleb, Kezzy, Cameron and Jesse.) grandma, cousin and I in front of the train depot.

I play piano, so I thought I would try the ones at the museum. This one was terribly out of tune...

But the one in the church sounded much better!!

We had a great time and I finished it off with a cool Sarsaparilla. Mmmm!  Now, I understand why Jem's mouth watered at the thought of one. They're good!

  1. So, where was this? Abilene? I love all the pictures! They do look like ones from the Andi books. Hey, I should post some of them over on Andi's blog, like the livery and the mercantile. May I sometime? I can post them under your name if you want.

Did you know my sister and her family live in Salina? I've been to Kansas many, many times. Every year I used to take my 2 youngest (Andrew and Ryan, AKA "Cory") to Salina and my sister and I would homeschool together for 3-4 weeks. It was fun. Have you been to Coronado Heights? And when we do homeschool conventions in the midwest we stay at my sister's and they have a symphony in the Park or something like that where they play orchestra and we go to the park in lounge chairs and listen and then go to Dairy Queen afterwards. My folks like to visit in time for the Smoky River Festival in June.

  2. I love the pictures! It looks like a place I would love to visit. So, it's there in Wichita? How fun! Maybe when we head to Wichita next year for the homeschool convention we'll have to go early so we can visit this place. What is it called?
It looks like you all had a wonderful time! It sure is hard to think of traveling very far in a wagon like that! :)

  8. Jesseca,
    Go to layout
    click add a gadget
    click on more gadgets
    search "members"
then click the thing called members, provided by Google.
    Then just add it!
The member thing looks weird in the picture they give, but it is the right one once you click on it :)
This is to get people to follow your blog!

  9. You are not supposed to touch things, IN this CASE the piano. Because it has those plastic walls for a reason. Just giving you a piece of my mind.......

    1. Your right! But in this case you were allowed to touch a few of the pianos to hear their tone, and sound from the 1800s. Thanks for commenting!

    2. I see!!!!! OKAY sorry that sounded negative!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    3. That's alright! I understand :) Most of the piano's do say 'do not touch' but there were 2 that didn't :)
