A song and verse for the weekend-Be thou my vision

I love Celtic hymns. . . and "Be thou my vision" is one of my favorite hymns!

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

A song and verse for the weekend-It is well with my soul

Isaiah 48:18   O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

Review for the week!

So, I know that I usually do a book review. . .but today I thought I'd change things up a bit!
I'm going to do a review on (drum roll) When Calls the Heart--a hallmark channel original!

"When Calls the Heart" tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high-society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coal-mining where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Laughlin plays Abigail Stanton , a wife and mother, who's husband, the foreman of the mine, along with dozens of other miners, has been killed in a explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go work in the mines to keep a roof other their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing), who believes Thatcher's father has domed his lawman's career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate's daughter. Living in a 19th century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

I LOVE Janette Oke's books!! (I hope I'm not alone here :)
When I heard hallmark was producing a season from 'The Canadian West" series of books (My favorite series by her!) I was REALLY excited!
I just finished watching them yesterday, and I can't wait until season 2 comes out next May!  They are some of the best movies (they have been released on DVD) that I have ever watched and they are also great to watch as a family. Well, as long as you have brothers who don't mind watching the occasional romance with you :)
Have any of you seen these episodes? If so, what did you think???
I'd love to hear in the comments!

A song and verse for the weekend

While it not exactly thanksgiving....okay, not even close, It is harvest time, and these are come of my favorite songs. And it's a beautiful melody! Besides, doesn't going from 88 degree to 55 degree weather in about  48 hours mean fall (thus, thanksgiving) is on the way??? :P

Daniel 2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Book Review: Left Behind-the kids

A day late, but here is this week's book/series review!

Left Behind: The Kids. By Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.
The story of 4 kids who were left behind after the rapture of the church. With their newfound faith, they determine to live boldly for Christ, Stand up for God whatever the cost, And await the triumphant return of Christ while battling for their very lives.

I REALLY like this series! It isn't as graphic as the adult series (Which I've read), but still shows the struggle that will happen after the rapture when the antichrist rules the world. Obviously, since the rapture hasn't happened yet, it is a suggested "end", but everything they write stays true to the prophesies in the Bible. The way I really enjoyed reading these was to read one of the books, then look up and study the scripture that had prophesied what happened in the book.(Hopefully that made sense!)
There are also three movies that have been made, based on the Left Behind adult series. If you're planning to read the books, I would recommend that you watch at least the first 2 of them. The third one is a lot more graphic and doesn't stay true to the books at all.

Well, that's all for this week! Let me know what you think of the series if you've read it!
