Last week, Emily from The Imaginary World of Emily McConnell  nominated me to answer some (outrageous) random questions!  Thank you, Emily!

Here are three facts about me, one of which is wrong. Y'all have to guess which one is wrong :)

1. I share a room with my three sisters

2. I LOVE the "When calls the Heart" DVD's

3. My favorite fictional movie is Narnia

Now I get to answer the questions :)

Given the choice between writing historical fiction or contemporary, what would you choose?

Historical fiction. Hands down! I think it's easier to write then contemporary because it's so much simpler. Plus you can research the time period and then make your story pretty accurate.

You’ve been sent to a foreign land as a diplomat and you don’t speak the language. You’re supposed to be talking peace talks with this country. What do you do?

I find someone who can speak both my language and the native language, and then try to postpone whatever meetings I have for around two weeks. In those two weeks I give myself a crash course on the language and hope that in two weeks It's good enough for whatever I'm trying to say :)

Surprise! You’ve been assigned to be the General of an army and you’re supposed to be planning a surprise attack on the enemy. What are you going to do and will your plan succeed?

Ummm, I need to know where I am first. . .and the enemy I'm up against :) Without knowing that I'm not sure I could make a plan and I'm almost sure it wouldn't succeed :) However, if I knew what we were up against, it may have a chance!

Would you prefer getting married to a guy who is fairly good and will probably grow more through marriage or would you wait until you’re thirty-nine to marry the perfect man for you?

Honestly, I can't really answer that. I'm not in any hurry to get married and I know that if it's God's will for my life he'll lead me to the perfect man when the time is right. . .and since it'd the man God has for me he'd be perfect no mater what his age.

Indiana Jones just asked you to come and help him save the world. What are you packing for the trip?

Books! As many as I can carry. They will come up handy, trust me! (If only to calm me down :-) )

You’ve been thrown back in time and discovered that T-rexes are vegetarians. How are you going to prove this to people in your time?

Well, If I have my camera along, I'll take pictures and hope they make it back safely. If I don't, then I think the mere fact that I'm back alive should convince them!

Asked by your best friend to attend her formal tea party, you arrive to discover that she’s invited the presidents/rulers of the world. What would you talk about with them besides politics (because some are bound to get angry when the discussion turns to politics and you can’t talk about those)?

I'd probably try and find out their life stories. Not only is that something that would (hopefully) keep them interested, but it wouldn't require to much from me. . .well, other then listening! Also, I'd like to find out what they enjoy/don't like about the countries they govern.

The police force in your area has asked you to solve the crime of the missing purple giraffe. But you don’t like giraffes and this one has been known to be particularly rude. Are you going to help find him or not? (Bear in mind that he’s a stuffed giraffe who has a tendency to run off whenever he feels like it, and he very well could be on vacation somewhere)

Since stuffed giraffes can't walk on their own, and if it was just the giraffe there is no way I'd try and find it! However, if it ran away with their owner, I'd be more then happy to help! :D

Okidokie! Now I get to ask other people some random questions!! :)

You've just finished highschool and suddenly you get an offer for a scholarship to a prestigious university. What do you study?

You're out on a walk when suddenly a girl you have never met before comes and asks for your help because there is someone chasing her. What do you do?

You were climbing a tree when suddenly a thunderstorm comes up and you realize that your stuck. What do you do?

You've become stranded on an Island with no one else around and no way off the Island. . .or so you thought. But then you realize there is someone else there as well. . . someone you consider an enemy.  What happens next?

Your in the middle of a bookstore and there are many, many books you've been wanting to get, but you can only pick one. What title do you choose and in what genre?

A song and verse for the weekend---O Church Arise

Matthew 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

So, I know I don't usually write anything when I do theses posts, but we sang this song in church last Sunday and there was one line that really spoke to me.
"Our call to war, to love the captive soul, but to rage against the captor."
A lot of the time I'll just look at the person and think, "I don't even want to be around that person much less try and love them and share the gospel."
But I need to remember that their soul is captive and it needs to be set free! God is longing for that soul to turn to him. That person is in turmoil until they can find the peace that is only found in Jesus Christ. We aren't fighting against the person, we are fighting against their captor. The one who is holding him in bondage. Like it says in Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 
Satan is holding them captive and doing all he can to keep them his slaves., but Christ has come that they may have life and that more abundantly!

Okay, enough of my rambling. I pray that this encouraged y'all and I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! Keep fighting the good fight!!

Review for the week-- Gift From The Storm

Author: Rebekah Morris
Genre: Fiction
Description: One cold, dark evening a young stranger appears outside the Morgan home with two small children. Injured and on the verge of complete exhaustion, she will only say that her name is “Amy.” 
Where did she come from? Who is she? And what has she been through? Dr. Justin Morgan and his family look for answers as they struggle to minister life and health to the needy ones in their midst.

I love, love, LOVED this book! I had read the first half of it on Rebekah's blog so I was on oins and needles until it was published! It was worth the wait!! It really kept you on the edge of your seat up until the last chapter and the epilogue. There were so many different twists and turns it literally kept you guessing THE WHOLE TIME!! It has now moved to my "Favorites shelf" in my bookshelf and it's definitely one I'll read over and over again!

Okidokie, I'll answer the questions from Emily first. :)

1. You have one day to live. What are you going to do that day?

Pray. Read the Bible. Then spend the rest of the day with my family. 

2.  You discover that you've accidentally brought to life all the characters from a book you've written/all the books I've read. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? 

Ummm, I think I'll run fr my life. Literally.   Except. . .I think it might be fun to meet some of the bad characters. . .from a distance of course ;) 

3. Cherries or peaches?

Both! (does that count as an answer? :D)

4. If Jesus came back tonight, would you be ready for him?

YES!!!

5. What is your favorite non-fiction book?(besides the Bible)

Evidence not Seen the biography of Darlene Deibler Rose. It's an amazing story of her miraculous faith in the jungles of WWII. Words can't describe. You just have to read it.

6. Biographies or instruction books?

It depends. :) I like both.

7. If given the chance, who is one biblical character (besides Jesus) you would like to meet?

Probably David. Or maybe Moses. . .or Peter. :) I'd take me a while to decide on just one of them, but if I had to it'd probably be Peter.

8. You're walking down the road and see a child being bullied. What would you do?

Honestly?  I'd get really mad and,without thinking, go and grab/push the child away. Not sure what I'd do after that. . .

9. If given the chance, who is one fictional character (your books or books you've read) that you'd want to meet?

I don't think I could choose just one! I'd like to meet Druet from The Arcrean Conquest series and then Major Ubel from Dark Storm Rising. I want to tell him a thing or two about what I think of him :)

10. You've been asked to perform a song/instrument in a huge arena with four thousand people attending. Would you go or would you hide?

I'd go. I honestly don't think I could live it down if I didn't. :) And I'd be praying desperately the whole time :)

11. Without warning, Your thrown back in time to a different era where Christians are being persecuted.  Would you try to find a way back home, help them first then find a way home, or accept your fate and decide to live among them and help them?

I'd help them first, then find a way back home :)

1. Who is the most influential person in your life?( Besides family)

Ummm, I'm not sure! Honestly It'd be a tie between quite a few people :)

2. What is your favorite animal?

Horse! Or any farm animal for that matter!

3. What is your favorite mythical character?

Aslan! Definitely Aslan!

4. Who is your favorite Bible character? (Other then Jesus)

5.What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

Chocolate!!!!

6. Which school subject is/was your favorite?

History! I enjoy it waayyy to much!

7. Which school subject is/was a struggle for you?

Math. 'Nuff said. 

8. Have you written a book? If so, what was it about?

I've finished one :) Dark Storm Rising Is about Germany and Austria before the actual start of WWII. To narrow it down, It 's about two children, who are trying to deliver a message when they get caught by the German Wehrmacht the night the Anschluss happens. 

9. What time period is your favorite to study?

WWII. . .or the old west. . .or the American Revaluation. :D

10. If you did get a job, what would it be?

Something medical. Not sure quite exactly what. . .yet :)

11. If you were stuck on a mountain for a night, but knew help was coming the next day, what would you do?

I'd try to get un-stuck before the help came. Honestly, I don't think I could just wait.

Book Review--The Heart of Arcrea

I have an awesome, AWESOME book to review today! I pretty sure it's one all my readers would enjoy!

Genre: Medieval/fantasy
Author: Nicole Sager
Series: The Arcrean Conquest

Description: Set during a forgotten age of kings and queens, knights and nobles, wise-men and warlords, The Heart of Arcrea follows the story of Druet the blacksmith, who, hoping to free his father from an unjust imprisonment, sets out on a quest that will solve an ancient riddle and crown a man as Arcrea’s first king. A host of memorable characters join Druet on his mission of justice, but opposition quickly rises to test their level of commitment and their faith in God. Will the dangerous wilds of Arcrea and her seven oppressive lords succeed in bringing an end to Druet’s quest and crush forever the kingdom’s hopes for a just king?

Honestly, I think this is one of my favorite books! (I know, I say that a lot :)
The author has a way of writing that literally pulls you into the story and you can't set the book down! The other books in the series are just as good! I also LOVE that the gospel is woven throughout the books, but in a way that makes it feel natural. . .because it is. The main character as well as a lot of the other characters are always praying about their problems before taking action and then listening patiently for the answer.
While it does start out a little slow, the rest of the book more then makes up for it with the memorable as well as realistic characters,daring--, and then there's the time when--,and Druet gets--.Well, as you can see, if I say anymore I'll give away to much of the book! :) Definitely a book I would recommend to anyone!

Resurrection Sunday!

He is risen!! The saddest day came when man sinned, turning away from God and making a sacrifice necessary. The happiest day came when Jesus rose from the dead, conquering death and sin.When Jesus died, he reconciled us to himself and in his resurrection, he has given us eternal life. Without his death, we could not have been reconciled to the father, without his shedding of blood we could have no remission of sins. Without his life, his rising from the dead, we could not have eternal life or the relationship we can now enjoy with him. 

(Romans 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.)

I hope y'all have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday as we proclaim to a broken world the we serve a risen savior. HE IS RISEN!
