Sunshine...

So...I know it's not Friday, but I thought I'd post this song because It's one of my favorites and because It's been in my head all day! (That might have something to do with it being a sunny, breezy, 76 degree day today. Yay summer!) And the words are really good as well. :)

A song and verse for the weekend

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my  burden is light.

Book Review--A life of Faith:Kathleen McKenzie. Books 1-2

Hey y'all! I'm really sorry the book review is late again this week.
I totally forgot about it until last night and it was a bit to late to post in then!
We've been having beautiful weather here. A bit cold Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday but up in the 70s today. I've been outside in flip-flops, a short sleeved blouse and cotton skirt. (If you haven't already guessed, My favorite, FAVORITE season is summer!)
 Now the review.

Kathleen's Shaken Dream's and Kathleen's Unforgettable Winter, By Tracy Leininger Craven

Kathleen is a city girl through and through. She enjoys school, hanging out with her friends and spelling! After getting injured in a foot race, she meets Lucy. The two girls become inseparable. Suddenly everything changes. The stock market crash of 1929 causes Kathleen's father to lose her her job and forces the family out of their city home. The move to the old family farm is difficult. Kathleen must learn to cope with things she had never even imagined. Milking a cow, riding a horse, shooting a rifle and dealing with a troublesome cousin, are all things Kathleen would rather do without. But she starts to adjust to the change and realizes that as hard as the change has been, it has drawn her closer to God and closer to her family. Just when she is beginning to accept and even enjoy her new life, her father gets a job offer. Kathleen is thrilled! But in the same post Kathleen gets bad new from Lucy.  What will this next chapter in her life bring? Will her faith continue to be strengthened? Or will she doubt God's plan for her life?

Book Review: Growing up Duggar--its all about realationships

Hi Y'all! I hope your all having a good week! I've had a little slower week which is wonderful! It seems that no matter how we plan the week it always ends up busier then expected. I was also able to work on my piano a lot more this week which was great! I can't wait for my piano lesson tomorrow and hopefully finish on of my Performance piano books :)
Anyway, here's this week's book review. Sorry it's a day late!

My mom bought me this book a week ago and I got it in the mail this last Thursday. I started reading it on Friday and finished it on Saturday. I love it! I loved reading about their family and their convictions.
I really enjoyed the chapter on Relationship with your siblings. Being in a larger family(8 kids) I know how it is to be around your siblings 24/7, and how it can get on your nerves when they get into your stuff or never leave you alone. The Duggar girls were really encouraging on speaking kindly, loving and forgiving your siblings and building a strong relationship with them. They really emphasized the verse Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath. Responding with love and kindness sets a good example  and also doesn't damage the relationship between you.
I would recommend this book to anyone in the teen/young adult age range. It encourages girls to honor the Lord and their parents and to seek God's will and timing in everything. It was encouraging for me to read a book by girls who have the same convictions as my family and I do, as well as some of the same problems and temptations  I face and how they have overcome them. I hope you will consider getting this book as I believe it will be a blessing and encouragement  to you.

Book/Series Review: Adventures of the Northwoods

Hey y'all! I hope you're having a wonderful week. Here in Wichita, KS our week started out with 70 degree weather on Monday. All my siblings were outside almost all day and I heard of a new season I'd never known of before :)
Caleb: "It's so warm out today it can't be winter."
Faith: "Caleb, spring doesn't start until March 20th. That's ten day's from now so it's still winter."
Caleb: "No, it's just Early Spring."
Faith: "There's no such thing as early spring. There's only winter then spring."
Caleb: "No, early spring comes after winter and before spring.
Sometimes younger siblings say the cutest thing!

Adventures of the Northwoods series by Lois Walfrid Johnson

The Adventures of the Northwoods series is a ten book series set on a Wisconsin farm in the early 1900s.
When 12-year-old Kate O'Connell's  beloved daddy dies in a construction accident, Kate's mother works hard to make ends meet. Kate, wanting to see Mamma happy and laughing again, goes to the pastor of their church and, without her mothers knowledge, asks him to find another husband for her. A husband that would make Mamma laugh again and take the shadows out of her eyes.
When the answer comes, Kate is quite shocked. Mr. Nordstrom lives in the woods of Wisconsin on a farm 11 miles from the closest "town". Kate begs Mamma not to, but she marries him and Kate and her Mother become a part of the Nordstrom family. With one older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister, Kate has a lot of adjusting to do.  And how can she ever bring herself to call Mr. Nordstrom Papa?
Slowly, Kate begins to adjust to these changes and eventually comes to the point  where she can feel part of her new family, and proud of the name Kathrine Nordstrom.

I love these books!! I have read through the series probably 7-8 times. I just now started it again and I'm on book 4. I love the way Christian values are taught and woven through the books as well as the mystery's in them that keep you on the edge of your seat. I would recommend theses books to anyone who enjoys mystery's as well as books that  are christian and family-centered. I also like that the kids never try to 'hide' things from their parents or other adults. (Except in book 2 and Kate soon learns that "Your sins will find you out!")

What are some books you all like to read?
I'd love to hear about them. I'm always looking for another good book to read!

An Idea....

Hey y'all! I hope you're having a wonderful day! Here it's just getting sunny out and I'm getting ready to clean the house for the weekend :-) What do you all enjoy doing on Friday's?
I read a lot, and I was thinking about doing a "book review" every Wednesday. I'd share a book I've been reading and any thoughts and comments I had about it.
What do y'all think of the idea? Is it something you would enjoy?

A song and verse for the weekend

John 4:13-14
Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again. But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water which I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
